April 9 - 9:50pm
Péter Forgács (1996) 62mins

One of Hungarian found footage filmmaker & archivist Forgács’ most extraordinary & devastating works. Part 9 of his career-spanning series Private Hungary, it re-presents home movie footage shot by László Rátz, an ensign in the 2nd Hungary Army, during their campaign in the Ukraine in 1942. This candid, observational footage provides a unique everyday portrait & alternative view of the Eastern front & of events leading up to the cataclysmic confrontation with the Soviets at the river Don.
Preceded by Landscape Suicide at 8.50pm, and "The Machine in the Garden" - a session of 6 atmospheric shorts, at 7.00pm.
